Chilly Day For the Bowman

Congress Parkway and Michigan. The Bowman and the Spearman are the two gatekeeper sculptures created in 1928 by Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestorvic and installed in the central entrance to Grant Park. You'll find photos of the Spearman (along with the Bowman) here in the blog Public Art in Chicago--a blog I look forward to exploring more as I have only just found it myself...

  1. Hi BC nice post today and thanks for the links. I had no idea that these were created by a fellow croatian.

The public art blog is a great idea, wish I had thought of it. I did a series on sculpture here in Mckinney. Since then, even more has caught my eye so I am going to be adding to it. I wonder if there is enough around for a blog devoted to it.

  2. Thanks Dan. I also think a blog devoted to public art is a great idea--maybe you can turn the scultpure section into a permanent "wing" of your McKinney daily photo blog (by adding a link onto the home page of your daily photo blog...just an idea...)
